Become part of it (from the 28th April-17th May)

The structure of the ride is the skeleton, you are its muscles, spirit and heart.

On the 28th April 2016, we will set off from Harwich in the direction of the Lausitz Climate Camp in Proschim, Germany, as part of the international Break Free initiative. To be part of this ride and mobile camp, you can...

1. Start with us on the 28th April in Harwich, UK.
2. Be part of a group joining us halfway in Hanover on the 5th May
3. Organise somewhere else to jump on the ride.

All new energy that comes in at different points will be hugely welcomed! And before you join, we need to know 2 things from you...
 1. What legs of the journey will you be joining us on?

This will allow us to figure out what accommodation space is needed, and how many we will be cooking for.
You can see the interactive map below to find out our dates and locations, then email us (info@timetocycle.org) your decision.
2. Would you like to be on the overnight ferry to the Netherlands, 28th April?

Please email us (info@timetocycle.org) with your contact details (Full name, gender, age, nationality and special needs) and we will give you the bank details to transfer £42.60. Let us know if you'd like us to bring your bike back to the UK in the van (£40). Places are limited.

Break down of costs

Food - This depends on what and how much you eat! We aim to have communal meals as much as possible, especially in the evenings, and everyone will be invited to join (donations welcomed). Le Sabot vegan community kitchen from the Netherlands will be joining us the whole way and making yummy meals available on donation.

Ferry - If you come with us on the 28th April (overnight + cabin) it is £42.860; If you book individually for a day trip, it is £39 single for a cyclist and £81 single (starting price) if you take an overnight cabin.
These are the prices we are aware of at the time of writing. For more information and to book your crossing individually, please go to the Stena Line website.

Basic accommodation - Most of the accommodation we've been offered is free and some we've found for a relatively low price (e.g 5€). No one is required to stay in the same place as what has been organised of course.

Return - TtC is not organising the return journey for this trip, but below you can find advice on different ways to get back. Since it can be difficult to take your bike on the coach or the train without an additional fare, we have hired a van that can pick up bikes from the Camp on 17th May and drop them in the North East of London (Stoke Newington) on 18th or 19th. We are asking for an additional £40 if you would like your bikes returned in the van.
  • Coach - Berlin to Cologne/Cologne to London with Megabus from £24, 18h (Eurolines does not run on 16-17th May).
  • Train - Get a One-Day Travel train throughout Germany with the Quer-Durchs-Land-Ticket for just 44€ and reduce to it to 15€ by traveling in a group.
From Cologne, catch a train to London with Europa Spezial from 69€.
  • Hitch-hike - Some of us will put our thumb out.
  • Cycle - You up for seeing the view the other way round now? If yes, please email us if you'd like to be put in touch with others who are up for it.

Basic fee - We are asking everyone who joins to take part in the costs by paying a basic fee. This is to cover the costs of bike tools, flags, first aid kits, maps, comms and all extra expenses that pop up. We've put it at £15 for those joining before Hannover and £10 for those joining in Hannover or later.

No one is paid in the Time to Cycle network and everyone is equally part of it once on the ride. To avoid anyone being unfairly out of pocket, we would appreciate if you could take part in this payment.
