Hello,
I am Fred from Stroud. I am officially 'Edward' but was never called that !
I am a gardener and composter and the role of carbon in the soil interests me a lot.
I have been involved in earth education with children, and permaculture, and the affirmative connection with nature is what gives me the positive, as well as the community of people, in the face of the depressing global ecology.
I joined a cycle tour for peace in 1983 and cycled from Oxford to Frankfurt, and this was in the face of world powers threatening us with nuclear madness. Today feels a bit similar, in that we simply cannot trust world leaders to make the decisions to ensure our safety and our future. Peaceful people power is ever more needed with new civil partnerships, tolerance , respect and patience.
I have been to Zimbabwe, and I play the mbira (thumb piano) from that country. The situation of people in hot, dry areas of the world, in the face of climate change appalls me. I have them very much in mind, in terms of food production in 30 years time in those areas.
I wrote an mbira song about waking up to climate change. In a way this is my message to the COP21:

I helped set up GlosCAN (Gloucestershire Climate Action Network). I am representing them and all the effort they are making.
Looking forward to meeting everyone,
All the best,
Fred
