CYCLE ENDE GELÄNDE 2017
arrive 22nd August.

Riding to the climate camp in the Rhineland to take international action against climate injustice!
Picture
This August, people from all over Europe will be heading to the Climate Camp and Ende Gelände (read about it here) situated near the lignite coal mines in the Rhineland, West Germany. And some of us will be making that journey by bike. We've done it before and we want to do it again by doing so in a community spirit, camping, eating delicious food, having outreach events in some of the towns we will be passing by and once again, taking a stance for what we believe in!

This year, we are lucky to have a team of facilitators cycling with us that will run a series of workshops around privilege and oppression, re-connection to Nature and direct action.

So whether you are a keen experienced cyclist or only take your bike out on weekends, this ride will be adapted to whoever is on it. With an average of 80km/day, we will be riding in sub-groups and always gathering together at the end of the day.

Route: You can join us anywhere along the way, whether you are starting in the UK, the Netherlands or somewhere else.

Cost: We always aim to make the rides as affordable as possible by applying for grants and working with other groups who also have a 'gift economy' ethos. We are aware that taking time out of work to join a ride can already be a big strain on people's financial situation, so we intend to seek for quality food that is payed by donation and cheep or free accommodation along the way (detailed info can be found on the registration page).

Organising a ride: If you're interested in getting some people together, however few or many, to leave from a different point and join up somewhere along the way, please get in touch and we will be delighted to help.

Workshops: Groups activities will be happening throughout the ride for whoever would like to take part in them.  As well as this, a Cycling Summer School will be a parallel project taking place at the same time as the cycle ride with a series of workshops that will open in London and close at the camp in Germany.

Still doubting? Why not check out the previous rides that Time to Cycle has been involved in by clicking on 'Past Rides', or send us an email with any questions you may have.
