The Ride
Cycle - Discover - Grow - Take action.
We are now going East to discover the communities that are growing a more just and sustainable world, while taking down what is rotten. As bees on bikes, we hope to connect our movements and pollinate change by sharing trainings and workshops that provide us better and more skills to act on what we believe in, in the most impactful way, by showing solidarity with other patches of resistance and by building a mobile community within our ride. This project is linking up Time to Cycle to a wider network of rides called Cycle Ende Gelande 2016. Along the way, our numbers, cultures and skills will grow as we join up with rides coming from France, the Netherlands, Austria and Sweden (maybe more), all heading to the Lausitz Climate Camp, Germany. |
Communities and Projects
|
Along the ride, we will be supported by, and show solidarity with, a self managed community centre in Osnabruck, a car free organisation in Hanover, students in Magdeburg, an eco-village in Bad Belzig, and many more.
We will go into schools beforehand to learn the messages that young people would like to spread, The wisdom of the youth is one important for us to learn from. We will be building a patchwork blanket with schools throughout the journey, symbolising the connection across borders. |
The ride's spirit
|
We aim to build a community spirit throughout the whole ride, by having communal meals, creating spaces of respect and care, and building the confidence and courage to take action together.

Ende Gelände
|
Last year, 1.500 people occupied an open-cast mine and blocked the coal diggers near Cologne. Germany. This time round, Ende Gelande 2016 will mark the second international mass action targeting the coal industry in the country. The location has moved to the Lusatia fields (south of Berlin), to focus on Vattenfall, a big energy corporations that is currently wanting to sell the coal mines and power plants, instead of shutting them down as they should.
